I managed a sort of jog-walk-trot today for about 6 kilometers, taking in the cemetery to see if there was anything new to see and indeed there was - the first crocuses have indeed speared through the surface and begun to unfurl their flowers. Some of the poor buggers were swimming a bit after the heavy rains overnight and this morning.
Rumbles was shut this afternoon, which rather nullified the whole point of my run slash walk. Especially as it has been muddy as hell down there and to find no cafe at the end of it put a slight grump on my face. Although there was a bit of a rainbow to take the sting off.
My ankle feels ok, and so I think for fitness sake I need to run a little more now. Cricket season is beginning to loom.

Some lovely winter blooming plants. I love witch hazel, the scent is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI particularly like the image of the snowdrop against the tombs.
Ah so that is witch hazel! Thanks!
DeleteA few buds and shoots showing around here too. Colder, but sunnier, weather expected soon.
ReplyDeleteCafes and coffee shops are important. I can't understand why it's such a special treat to go somewhere else to buy a cup of tea or coffee that one could drink just as easily and definitely more cheaply at home. But they are special. And to find the goal of one's walk / run / paddle through mud is closed . . . it takes something out of the day.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see your first flowers! No crocuses here yet but haveseen our first winter aconites and some of the witch hazel bushes are already well in bloom
ReplyDeleteThe small light in the tower and the birds sitting there. I bet there's owl not far away. Good about the ankle. Hope it stays that way.
ReplyDeleteGood to see the first stirrings of spring, Simon. Nice witch hazel flowers too. Coffee shops should always be open!
ReplyDeleteYour right, tea doesn't feel as good as it does when you are out - that said I avoid Starbucks as it is so bloody expensive. I preer smaller cheaper places. Thanks for all your comments.
ReplyDeleteNice snowdrops Si.
ReplyDeleteGood to see signs of Spring starting to appear and wonderful witch hazel flowers :)
ReplyDeleteWe seem a bit behind here. Maybe too many cold winds are slowing things down.
ReplyDeleteSeem to be ahead of everywhere here in these parks!
