Got a Red Admiral for you now

Yes, it's the same plant at work, and this time I am showcasing a real big beauty of the lepidoptera, the red admiral.

These are late summer flutterers, sometimes seen as late as November, or conversely, as early as Boxing Day as I discovered a few years later. They are hardy as anything, and never seem to look raggedy or wrecked as other species end up looking towards the end of their flight.

I myself am not looking too raggedy, as I've just given myself a haircut by the wheelie bin. The back and sides now match in length.

Just about.

  1. Aren't they the best? Best excuse ever for leaving a patch of nettles in your garden, Red Admirals need them.
