Well it's not really a "Fool the Eye" job, but this mural has graced Appletongate in the town for as long as I can remember. I've always loved the low level fauna, the scurrying cat, the ducks in the river...it does have a rather dated feel to it I admit, and it's not going to make the owner of the house it's on rich like a Banksy, but it is a Pokemon stop.
I think.
Such are our cultural aspirations in this town.
It's lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! You've given me inspiration for my next blog post! My nearest town has many murals on walls, houses and shops. which I kind of take for granted because they are 'there' and I've seen them many times. But they are really well worth taking my camera on a tour around the town. Thank you, Simon for seeing things properly!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. I like the way the cat is depicted.
ReplyDeleteMy friend Cara does this thing called #lookup on twitter and instagram to get people to may more attention to that sort of thing.
ReplyDeleteOh, it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDo you know now who eats the suet balls in your garden? One of mine had disappeared overnight, I suspect the culprit is a squirrel or a bigger bird.
Have a sunny weekend!
Beautiful murals, love it.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely mural - saw quite a few when we were in Yorkshire and visited Knaresborough.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see. Just imagine the outcry if anyone did such a large mural these days.
