A Gentle Cycle Nowhere in Particular

I'm full of joy at having finished my shift, and the sun for once was visible without being blocked out by prefabricated building structures trapping cardboard dust and directing it down into our sinuses and lungs. The joy of escape! The joy of being able to ride my bike without having to ride it to work! I didn't go far. I didn't go fast, I just rode along path and track, deafened by the chiff chaffs on the Sustrans 64, watching the canada geese cast long shadows over the grass strewn with their droppings, see a coot dive for a foot long stick for its nest, and watch the swifts, now arranged in three small flocks of 6-8 birds racing round in circles around their three nest sites near to me. For four days, the world is mine to explore.

  4. Thank you for your kind comments, I've donee 15 miles on the bike today, but alas no run as I was very tired. Of which more anon.

That little lock keeper's cottage has been empty for a very long time. I remember there was a tiny sweet shop in here once, selling the usual 10p pick and mixes.
