The rain started at around 11pm last night, and didn't let up until 11am the next day. After that, the powers that be dealt us flashes of strong sun interspersed with powerful showers that forced me to hide inside at Rumbles cafe, and watch Jeremy Corbyn get elected while the rain did its best to destroy the garden furniture outside.
I cycled into town then, and walking through the supposed high status shopping centre, I remembered that yet again there was talk of re-developing it, seemingly not so long after they had their last go at it.
It has never been anything other than a horrible spot, dark and dingy and brutalist in the worst possible way. Just take a look at my photographs below, and you can spot everything that's wrong with the modern British retail sector.
It is not a spot in which I like to linger.

I do like how it is closed off to traffic and how pedestrians can walk in peace. We have had a dose of rain here but today looks like it is going to be a perfect day in my part of Virginia. Any day without humidity is a perfect day to me :)
ReplyDeleteForm the title I was expecting to see the odd photo of a Scally or Chav ;)
ReplyDeleteLook hard enough in that picture and you will see some! It's not at all pretty!
