Me, I'm not one who subscribes to the overly florid style of nature writing that I see from some folk; I favour a more direct approach that doesn't have me reaching for the thesaurus to look up synonyms for "Beautiful" and "Majestic" as I type away.
At the moment I'm preferring to keep looking for what persists; what flashes of colour remain as the sun sinks lower in the sky and the equinox approaches.
Today I was rewarded by our verbena patch at work attracting another couple of visitors; a rather tired looking bee of some kind, and a vivid small tortoiseshell that was doing that quivering wing thing that this species seems to do to keep itself warm - a lepidopteral shiver perhaps.
It was confiding as long as I stayed very still, and even gave a good look at its happy little face as it tried to warm up.
And with that, I can put the thesaurus down LOL.
