Torpid Bumbles

At least the weather was slightly improved today (until the evening) unlike my how's your fathers.

It enabled me to get out a little bit at break time, and take a look round my verges and mini-meadow. The mini-meadow only really has knapweed still left in flower, which is sad, but for a few weeks it did its job wonderfully and is hopefully now going to establish itself naturally.

The traffic island the council seeded a couple of years ago and reseeded again last year, well they left it alone this year. It is now well in bloom, although perhaps not as vividly as before. We will see. I intend to investigate soon.

Despite the chill and damp weather, the pollinators were about, some rather cold and damp looking bumblebees, moving rather slowly or sheltering under flowers.

It did make it easier to photograph them however!

  2. "Torpid" - that's the word. I've been a bit torpid these last few days.
