Noticed tonight that my parents have the first native bluebells I've seen this year. Parked serenely in the front garden under a wall, in a darker damper location as they prefer.
As ever, they are later than their Spanish cousins, which probably explains why they are getting out competed in the UK, and are distinguishable by their curved stems with the flowers generally on one side, and their (to my eyes) richer colour.
Very nice to see them, hopefully next door's cats won't roll all over them.
