Striking Clouds

Well, I've very much gone down with a heavy cold after all that resistance sapping exposure to cold weather last week. As ever, the acheyness and heavy headedness recedes a little after a couple of days, to be replaced with a near paralyzing cough. I have had severe coughs on average twice a year ever since I can remember, right back into childhood.

I have no idea why they get so bad.

Luckily when I do rhythmic exercise it doesn't seemso bad - I'm okwhen I'm cycling for real or on the trainer. However, as soon as I stop I sound like  a 19th century TB sanitarium.

Work has therefore been a pretty embarrassing experience, as folk can hear me coughing nearly all the time, even if I go and hide outside. But, as ever, I made it through the day, a day where I watched buzzards from the office window, and behind them a small echelon of pink footed geese heading NE< migrating home to breed.

Oh, and some great cloudscapes.

Death by Pie

Have really not felt well today, poleaxed by a pie, a chicken pie that looked like slurry with pastry on top. I shouldn't have eaten it really, but I struggle not to eat food - lol - and down it went.

Suffice to say, if it looks bad, it probably won't do your body any good, and so it proved. I'm still not 100% now, but I've still done 45 minutes on the exercise bike, if feeling a bit weak.

Yesterday I was lucky. I got to work a few minutes before Storm Georgina or whatever her name is passed through. 15 minutes later, the most powerful wind and rain burst slashed through our campus, and the poor people still cycling to work in it. My colleague Kat came in like she'd been through a car wash, and had to borrow a load of gentleman clothes for the rest of the day. The wind just howled and wouldn't let up, driving huge raindrops sideways.

Never seen anything like it.

However, the rain did eventually stop so I could get out and about on our campus, and I found myself having a lovely 5 minute close encounter with a goldcrest. The little bird approached me to about a metre, "seeeeeping" about as it combed the lichen with its beak, totally unafraid, as they always are, of my human presence.

Ah well, one always has to pay for a joyful moment. Bleurgh.

An Ugh Sort of Day

Been well off my best today - something appears to have irritated my stomach and I was in a really bad way until about 1pm. At first I thought it was a bug, but my stomach seems to have settled quite quickly.

Suspect something I've eaten or drunk has had an effect. I have a crazily sensitive stomach at the best of times. Feel slightly woozy in my head but I'll see.

So, not much to report today. I did make it out for a walk today, and found at Rumbles cafe that their bee hotel has a few holidaymakers!
