The Last Bee of the Year

I have some beautiful skies to show you, but later, dear readers, later.

Today I saw what was almost certainly the last bee I will see this year, feeding off the small flowers that grow in a hedge at work. The chances of any bees being around after the forecasted temperature drop tonight seems pretty mimimal to me.

So here it is, not great shots alas, but a sort of watershed moment nonetheless.

  1. Thank you - not seen any bees for a while in NE Scotland.

  2. Plenty in my garden when I planted my polyanthus this afternoon but you are quite right - it will be a different story tomorrow if the weather forecast is to be believed.

  4. Last time I looked in the garden the bees were all over the rocket as if there was no tomorrow.

Funny thing today. Just got back from my run and taking off my socks when a wasp suddenly flew in through the window and tried to land on my sweaty foot. I had to give it a thwack with a cushion and put its lights out.
