Frugal is a big old buzz word these days, and I have to say it's one I have tried to avoid. There's something so terribly monastic and pious sounding about the word; it makes you think of sackcloth, brown rice and slightly patronising BBC2 television programmes telling you how to make a set of shelves out of planks and bricks.
Well I need to slash back my spending; I'm tired of not having money to buy nice things from time to time, or being able to put as much away as I'd like, but the trick is I'm going to spend less money while living more.
So, if anyone does have any ideas, and yes I'm on the survey sites already, much good may it do me in terms of saving up for a new kindle. But if you have any ideas how to scam free cinema tickets say, or discretely drink in pubs and bars for nothing, or get more folk to send me things to review and, errrr, keep them a little bit, then do let me know. Feel like trying to live a little differently.
And if I have to live of pasta and pesto for a few weeks, I can do that. I can always thrown in some Asda own brand Mozarella to make it even more exciting.
As for the world outside, it's been a foggy one. It was misty last night, and then 6am this morning it was full on foggy and cold. Just what I needed, being ill and all that. The ice solidified out of the fog, and left me in my black uniform looking like a muffin frosted with icing sugar, and with hands like I'd had them in a dry ice machine.
Still, atmospheric photo-opps may be created. Bicycle lights by shivering night.
