It's all in the Detailing

Not so long ago the nice people at Element Detailing, who have always been really tolerant of my attempts to write on environmental matters that they know infinitely more than me about, decided to send me some of their high quality greetings cards to have a look at.

Like me they are based in the Newark area and have a great interest in the history and nature of the area. Unlike me they have a great talent for illustration, and can thus produce attractive cards featuring local landmarks.

These sepia-tone drawings feature various local churches; The North and South Collingham churches, South Scarle, and the one at Holme village near RSPB Langford Lowfields I have cycled past on many occasions. They are also available in postcard form.

Real Newark locals will have no trouble recognising this bridge!

This next card with added colour has almost a Monet feel about it, but is actually the local Buddhist retreat at Pure Land, North Clifton, which my family have visited and really enjoyed.

They also travel further afield too!

I'm very charmed by these raptor cards and postcards; anyone who doesn't find owls wonderful has a screw loose in my humble opinion.

Finally they offer much brighter, more abstract images that I rather like, although they may not be to everyone's taste. These cards are A5 in size, so they are pretty striking.

Now if you want to get your paws on these cards yourself, then Element Detailing have an Etsy Shop where you can see the full range and get an idea of prices. They have tried to find outlets to stock their products in, but it's tough for the small producer to get a foothold. They do however sell at craft fares and the like as well as online; you can follow them here on twitter too to find out more about all their activities.

  3. I love these Si, and shall go and have a look at their Etsy shop - it is often hard to find a good card to send. I love owls too and we have a fair selection around here.

    1. Much appreciated John, the Little Owls are often around our area in the spring and its a joy to sit and watch them. Getting good pictures to work from is not always so easy, I may have to ask Simon for some advice there.

    1. Yes, definitely a Little Owl, glad you could recognise it. I have been meaning to do some images of Barn Owls, Tawny and Short Eared as they are about in the north notts area. I have some good Barn Owl pictures to work from but the others are more illusive.

    1. Yes it has been a real pleasure to read your post & the comments, thank you for taking the time to review them for us Si, the photos you have taken are really good and I think we will be learning a trick or two from you there. It is a pleasure to see a good blogger in our area helping to show what we can do, I hope other local companies who share your interest seek you out too.

      Thanks again
